The MacBook storage upgrade Apple says can't be done.
Apple solders the SSD to the logic board, so "buy a new one" is the standard answer. I upgrade it at the board level — 1TB becomes 2TB, on the machine you already own.

Questions, answered straight
Can you really upgrade a soldered MacBook SSD?
Yes. On most modern MacBooks, Apple solders the SSD chips directly to the logic board, which is why most shops say the storage can’t be upgraded. I work at the board level: the original NAND chips come off, higher-capacity chips go on, and the system is configured and fully tested. A 1TB machine becomes 2TB. It’s advanced micro-soldering work, and it’s the work I’m known for.
Is it safe to mail in my device?
Thousands of devices are repaired by mail-in every day — the key is process. You ship with tracking, I confirm receipt the day your device arrives and match it to your request by the printed confirmation email you enclose, and it goes back to you with tracking as well. You’ll hear from me at every step: received, diagnosed, quoted, repaired, shipped.
What does diagnosis cost?
If you know what you need — a storage upgrade, battery, or screen — it's quoted upfront from your model and there's no diagnostic fee at all. If it's broken and you're not sure why, there's a flat $40 diagnostic fee, waived if you proceed with the repair — so if you go ahead, the diagnosis costs you nothing.
Do you charge anything before I approve?
No repair work happens and no repair charges exist until you've seen the quote and said yes. The only cost that exists before approval is the flat $40 diagnostic on fault-finding jobs — waived if you proceed with the repair — and you'll know about it before you ship anything. The price you approve is the price you pay.
What if you can’t fix it, or I don’t like the quote?
Then I ship it back to you. For upfront-quoted work you owe nothing. For fault-finding, the flat $40 diagnostic is all you've spent — and you'll know exactly what's wrong, in writing, to do with as you please. I'd rather tell you honestly that a repair isn't worth it than sell you one that is.
Is the work warrantied?
Yes. Every repair is covered by my warranty on the work performed and the parts I install. If something I repaired fails under warranty, I make it right.
Who pays for shipping?
You cover shipping to me; return shipping is quoted up front with your repair — no surprises. The return shipping cost is part of the quote you approve, so the total you see is the total you pay.
How is my data handled?
Your data stays on your device and is treated as confidential — I access it only as far as the repair requires (for example, verifying a machine boots and storage functions). For storage upgrades I walk you through backing up beforehand, and I confirm your data situation with you before any work that touches storage. I never copy, browse, or retain your files.
How long does it take?
You get your quote within one business day of submitting the form, and diagnosis happens within 1–2 business days of arrival. Total turnaround depends on the repair and parts, and I give you a time estimate with your quote — then keep you posted if anything changes.
Told it can't be done?
Two minutes to tell me what's going on. You'll hear back within one business day.
