"Unrepairable" almost always means the fault is on the circuit board and the last shop only swaps parts. Boards fail one component at a time — a shorted capacitor, a blown charging IC — and I find and replace that component under the microscope.
It's the capability behind my soldered MacBook SSD upgrades, and it applies to anything with a board. A flat $40 diagnosis — waived if you proceed with the repair — is a cheap second opinion.
